Material Categories & Bins

IMPORTANT: 
If you plan to track inventory (utilize material transactions) for a material then you will need to set up a Bin for that Material.
 
In this document, we will cover how Create/Edit/Delete your Material Categories and Bin data. Categories are required as all Materials must be assigned to a Category, if tracking inventory you must set up Bins.
Material Categories and Bins are user defined allowing you to create Categories and Bins that meet your specific needs. There is no limit to the number of Categories or Bins that you can create, please take some time to plan before creating your Categories and Bins, the naming conventions you use can make searching for materials very quick and very easy.
 
There are Preloaded Categories and Bins in your PrintJobManager application, you can Add/Edit/Delete these  Categories and Bins, take a look at how they were Configured to give you some ideas when setting up your Categories and Bins. 
 
Material Category Samples...
  • Digital Cover, Digital Text, Digital Special, or Offset Gloss Coated, Digital Cover Uncoated, etc.
  • Bindery Materials, Press Materials, Customer Name (For their materials), etc.
Material Bin Samples...
  • Warehouse #1
  • Large Format Room.
  • Bindery Storage
 
Material Categories - Add/Edit/Delete (Main Menu > Materials > Material Categories)

Categories* are Required in order to create Materials, as all Materials must be assigned to a Material Category.
A material may be assigned to more than one material category.
 
Material Category - Add 
  • To create a New Material Category, select the +Add New (Fig. 1 - #2) button on the upper right side of the screen.
  • You will now see the Material Category console, at the top of the screen under the Name Column (Fig. 1 - #2)   please enter the appropriate Name of the Material Category you wish to set up in the text field provided.
  • Under the Description Column (Fig. 1 - #3) please provide a brief description of the Material Category you are setting up.
  • When both the Name and Description fields are complete select the Checkmark icon (Fig. 1 - #4) on the far left side to save your changes.
Material Category - Edit
Note: When you Edit a Category Name, all items within that category will be included in the New (Edited) Category.
  • To Edit a Material Category, select the Edit icon (Fig. 1 - #5) on the left side of the Material Category you want to Edit.
  • The Material Name Column (Fig. 1 - #2) will now be active/editable, please enter the name of the Material Category you would like in the text field.
  • The Material Description Column (Fig. 1 - #3) will also be active/editable, please enter the Description of the Material Category you would like in the text field.
  • When both the Name and Description fields are complete, select the Checkmark icon (Fig. 1 - #4) on the far left side to save your changes.
Material Category - Delete
Note: When you Delete a Category it becomes Hidden, and Materials within the Category cannot be used in creating a product Engine. The Deleted Category can be re-activated by selecting the Gear icon (#7 above) and selecting the Edit icon (#5 above).
  • To delete a Material Category, select the Delete icon (Fig. 1 - #6) on the left side of the Material Category you want to Delete/Hide.
 
Material Bins - Add/Edit/Delete: (Main Menu > Materials > Bins)

Material Bins - Add/Edit/Delete: (Main Menu > Materials (A) > Bins (B))
Material Bins* are required if you will be using the Track/Managing Materials feature. Bins can be a location such as Warehouse #1, Warehouse #2 or Isle 4-Shelf #32, Client Name (for their specific materials), etc.
 
Material Bin - Add 
  • To create a New Bin, select the +Add New (Fig. 2 - #1)  button on the upper right side of the screen.
  • You will now see the Material Category console, at the top of the screen under the Name Column ((Fig. 2 - #2). Please enter the appropriate Name of the Material Bin you wish to set up in the text field provided.
  • Under the Facility Column (Fig. 2 - #3) Select from the drop-down arrow in the –Select Facility—textbox that this location represents.
  • Under the Description Column (Fig. 2 - #4) please provide a brief description of the Material Bin you are setting up.
  • When the Name, Facility and Description fields are complete select the Checkmark icon (Fig. 2 - #5) on the far left side to save your changes.
Material Bins - Edit
Note: When you Edit a Bin, all items within that Bin will be included in the New (Edited) Bin.
  • To Edit a Material Bin, select the Edit icon (Fig. 2 - #6 on the left side of the Bin you want to Edit.
  • The Bin Name (Fig. 2 - #2) will now be active/editable, please enter the name of the Material Category you would like in the text field,
  • The Bin Facility (Fig. 2 - #3) will also be active/editable, please enter the Description of the Bin you would like in the text field,
  • The Bin Description (Fig. 2 - #4) will also be active/editable, please enter the Description of Bin you would like in the text field,
  • When both the Name and Description fields are complete select the Checkmark icon (Fig. 2 - #5) on the far left side to save your changes.
Material Bins - Delete
Note: When you Delete a Bin it becomes Hidden, the Materials within the Bin cannot have Material transactions posted. The Deleted Bin can be re-activated by selecting the Gear icon (Fig. 2 - #8) and selecting the Edit icon (Fig. 2 - #6).
  • To delete a Material Bin, select the Delete icon (Fig. 2 - #7) on the left side of the Material Category you want to Delete/Hide.
