How do you calculate large format materials in a product engine

Question: How do you calculate large format material costs in a product engine

Answer: There are 2 ways in which you can calculate large format material costs in a product engine. 1. By calculating square footage needed and apply that amount to a square foot price for the material. 2. By calculating the amount of 1 roll being used and apply to a roll price for that material.

1. By calculating square footage needed and apply that amount to a square foot price for the material.

Material Price = $1.00 per square foot
Quantity = 2
Size = 48" x 96"
Formula to use to calculate square footage = (Quantity*Height*Width)/144
Material cost for this example = (2*48*96)/144 = 64 square feet * $1.00 per square foot = $64.00

2. By calculating the amount of 1 roll being used and apply to a roll price for that material.

Material roll = 50" x 150', cost of 1 roll = $200.00
Quantity = 2
Size = 48" x 96"
Formula to use to calculate amount of 1 roll used = (Quantity*Height*Width)/(Total Square inches of roll)
Material cost for this example = (2*48*96)/(50*(150*12)) = 9216/90000 = 0.1024 of a roll * $200.00 = $20.48
