Requested and Projected Ship Dates

Requested ship date

You can allow an end-user to request a ship date at check out.  If you do so, the user will be presented with a calendar at check out where he/she can choose a ship date.  This setting is found in Sites > [site name] > Settings > General tab in the Checkout Section.  It is labeled "Capture Requested Ship Date."  Dates will be blocked out in the calendar based on the in/out of stock ship dates for the products in the order.  The in/out of stock ship dates setting is found in Sites > [site name] > Catalog > Products > [product name] > General tab in the "CheckOut Options for This Product" section.  If the product uses inventory and the inventory is in stock, the in stock ship days will be used.  If the product uses inventory and the inventory is out of stock OR if the product does not use inventory, then the out of stock ship days will be used.  The system will take the product with the longest ship date setting and block out those days in the calendar.  For example, if a product does not use inventory and the out of stock ship date is set to 3, the next three business days will be blocked out in the calendar preventing the user from choosing a ship date sooner than it would take you to produce and ship the order.  The requested ship date will show as a column in your Orders dashboard in Pressero admin.  You have the following options for the  Capture Requested Ship Date setting:

Use Default
  • We use the products In stock/Out of Stock days to determine the earliest possible default date that can be selected and display that on the calendar.
  • The customer can select a later date based on the products in the cart.
  • The Projected Ship Date will show the same as Requested Ship date.
Do Not Ask
  • We do not show a calendar in the Shopping Cart.
  • We do not add a date in the Requested Ship Date field, it shows as null.
  • The Projected Ship Date field will use the In Stock/Out of Stock days based on the items in the order.
Required
  • A calendar will be presented to the customer at checkout and we will not display a default date.
  • The end-user must select a date from the allowed date shown on the calendar.
  • The Projected Ship Date will show the same as Requested Ship date the customer selects.

Optional
  • A calendar will be presented to the customer at checkout and we will not display a default date.
  • The end-user may select one if they wish from the allowed dates based on the products being ordered but it is not necessary that they do so.
  • If they do not select a date then the Requested ship date field will be null.
  • If no date is selected by the customer, the Projected Ship Date field will use the In Stock/Out of Stock days and provide that date on the reports, confirmation page, etc.

Projected ship date

The projected ship date will show on the order confirmation and the order summary pages to the end-user on the site.  There is not a setting to turn off displaying the projected ship date on the site.  It will also show as a column in your Orders dashboard in Pressero admin.  The projected ship date is calculated based on the Capture Requested Ship date setting as explained above.
