Ch. 008. Template Assets - Graphic Files and Image Picker Groups

If you would like a graphic file to be displayed on your template that is not part of the master PDF then you will need to upload it to the Graphic File section of the assets area. Or the images can be uploaded to the image Library page (see Ch. 023b Image Library Tab for more information about the Library).

Graphic image files for forms based templates can be any of these file formats:

PDF, EPS, WMF, PNG, GIF, TIF, BMP, JPG. PSD

Graphic image files for interactive templates can be any of these file formats:

PDF, PNG, JPG, TIF, GIF, BMP, WMF. EPS and PSD

Most EPS files and some PSD files will work. However, it's best to test the file individually.

For Multi page PDF files, only the first page will be used. (If you choose to upload PDF files, please make sure to flatten them first to remove transparency. Instructions on how to flatten a PDF file can be found here:http://support.aleyant.com/KB/a48/ch-003-building-the-master-pdf.aspx.)

To upload a graphic file for a template, expand the Graphic Files area in the template's Assets tab. Click “+ Add Images” and then choose one or more files.

After you've uploaded one or more graphic files, place a check mark next to each image that you would like to enable for use in this template. You can enable both images uploaded in this area and image files uploaded in eDocBuilder's Library tab. Use the "Check All" and "Uncheck All" buttons to easily select or deselect all images. To delete graphic files that you have uploaded to this template, place a check mark next to it and click "Delete Selected Files." When you are done making any changes to the Graphic Files area, click "Save Graphic Files Options."

An example of a time to upload a graphic file

  1. You want an image to display as a placeholder on the template that will be replaced by another image the user will upload
  2. When you want an image to display during the proofing process only, and not be part of the production file... such as the background artwork that you may have on masters you've already produced.
  3. A graphic file that will be selected by a vbscript or variable data upload.

Image Picker Groups

Image picker groups are used to let the user make an image selection from within the group presented to them in a dropdown. You will upload all available image choices for each of the image picker groups you will create. eDocbuilder allows you to build up to five drop-down image selectors within each eDoc template.

Image Picker files for forms based templates can be any of these file formats:

PDF, EPS, WMF, PNG, GIF, TIF, BMP, JPG. PSD

Image Picker files for interactive templates can be any of these file formats:

PDF, PNG, JPG, TIF, GIF, BMP, WMF. EPS and PSD

Most EPS files and some PSD files will work. However, it's best to test the file individually.

For Multi page PDF files, only the first page will be used. (If you choose to upload PDF files, please make sure to flatten them first to remove transparency. Instructions on how to flatten a PDF file can be found here:http://support.aleyant.com/KB/a48/ch-003-building-the-master-pdf.aspx.)

After uploading, previews of each image file will be shown in each of the categories. During the field setup process you will be able to choose which graphic file, or image picker field you want to use as the default. You can return here to delete or upload more images.
