The Font Library tab is eDocBuilder's centralized storage area for font files. Fonts that you upload in this tab can be accessed by each template in your eDocBuilder account. This eliminates the need to upload the same files to multiple templates. Note: This does not mean that fonts uploaded to the library are available to your customers in every template; you control which fonts are available for use on a per-template basis. The Font Library is simply an easy way to upload and store files that will be used by more than one template. You can also use the Font Library tab to select which base fonts should be available for your templates to access.
In the Library Fonts section, upload one or more font files to make them accessible to each template. You can select multiple files at once from the dialog box after clicking “Select,” or simply drag and drop files from your computer into the library area. To delete fonts from the library, check the box next to them, and click “Delete Selected.”
Check the "Show advanced options" box to see options that provide more control on how the fonts are used in a production file. After checking this box, you can select for each uploaded font whether you would like the Encoding to be Unicode or Latin, and whether you would like to embed the full or just the subset needed for the template (or not embed at al). Choosing Unicode or Latin for the Encoding option is dependent on how the font being used is created.
Tip: If the production PDF is displaying the fonts incorrectly, try changing the Encoding to Latin from Unicode. The Embedding option can be set to Embed Full if you are seeing any individual character dropouts on the production PDF."
Using Japanese, Simple and Traditional Chinese and Korean Fonts:
For embedding foreign character sets we would generally suggest using Unicode rather than one of the specific languages. Sometimes there can be issues with particular fonts, but it's probably the most mainstream modern approach and least likely to result in issues.
Important: Be sure to scroll down and click "Save font options" after making any changes in the Font Library tab.
Once you have uploaded fonts to the Font Library, you can enable them on a template-by-template basis. Go to the Assets area of your template, and expand the Fonts, Graphic Files, Background Files, and/or Image Picker Groups sections. Place check marks next to any fonts or images that you would like to allow your customer to use in this template or click “Check All” to select everything in the Library. Make sure to click the “Save” button for the specific section and Commit Changes in the Field Setup area.
eDocBuilder contains several base fonts that do not need to be uploaded to your account for use in templates: Tinos (regular, bold, italic, and bold-italic), Arimo (regular, bold, oblique, and bold-oblique), Cousine (regular, bold, italic, and bold-italic). If there are some base fonts that you want accessible to none of your templates, you can use the Base Fonts area of the Font Library tab to disable these base fonts on an account-wide basis. Simply uncheck the box next to the font(s) in the Base Fonts area; then click "Save font options." (You can also disable base fonts on a per-template basis in a template's Assets tab.)
Important: you need at least one font enabled either within the Font Library or within the template to be able to create a template From Scratch or via uploading a Master PDF.
