Can I set the default background for my Interactive Designer template?

When an Interactive Designer template is set to allow the user to choose a background, the template will not show any background at all in the initial loading of the template. Until the user chooses a different background, the content of the master PDF will be displayed as the background.  When the user chooses a new background, that will cover the static elements in the master PDF. Although there is not a way to set one of your background images (or color swatches) to display in the initial preview, there are two available workarounds:

1) Include the background image you want for the initial display as a static image within your master PDF. If the customer chooses a different background, their choice will cover the master PDF, including that static image.

2) Use the background image you want for the initial display as a graphic file that shows through a transparent master PDF*. To do this: Upload the image you would like to display as the initial background to the Graphic Files section of your template's Assets page. Important: Make sure your master PDF is completely transparent* so that your image will show through. Include an extra field in your master PDF that covers the entire page. This field should have the following settings:
  • Field Type tab: Image, Data coming from Graphic File
  • Data Capture tab: Select the image you uploaded to the Graphic Files section of your template's Assets page.
  • Format tab: Set the Stacking Order to -1 so that the image will be below any other background that your customer selects during the customization process.

*One method of creating a transparent master PDF: In Photoshop, create a document. Set the size, and set the background to transparent. Then save, making sure to save as a PDF with layers with "Preserve Photoshop Editing Capabilities" checked.
